Here, we will consider the types of businesses with following characteristics:

• With low time investments
• With low money investments
• With low risk factors
• Could be managed easily at home with laptop and internet
• Is achievable in a reasonable timeframe
• Doesn’t require too much expertise, years of practice, or heavy skill building
• Is moderately scalable and automatable
• Is not illegal
• Makes me anywhere between $1000-$5000 a month

Theory

There could be several types of businesses in the above defined set that you can set up. I am going to categorize them among 2 broad categories:

• Product/Service Based Business: In order to run this type of business consistently and profitably, in addition to a product or service to sell, you need a constant targeted queries regarding the product or service that you are selling. You need at least $5000 worth of queries. Meaning that if all the customers, who are inquiring, do end up purchasing something (which will never happen in practice, because only a fraction of them will actually purchase), then you should have a sales of at least $5000 every month. Now, this $5000 worth of queries could be in the form of 100 customers querying about a product or service worth of $50, or in the form of 10 customers querying about a product worth of $500. As long as your business is hitting this number, your business is capable of running consistently. Getting a product or service to sell is the easy part. Getting the track and queries is the trickier part. I will be covering both. 🙂
• Authority/Brand Based Business: In order to run this type of business consistently and profitably, you will need to build a large fan following, or build a brand name, or some kind of reputation in your chosen niche. Your niche can be anything such as Fashion, Cooking, Gadgets, Video Games, etc. There are various ways of building the followings, reputation and brand, which I will be covering in detail. Once you have achieved that, you can make money through various means (which I will be covering also):
  • Promotion of other brands in the same niche as yours and charging them for the promotion.
  • Promotion of other’s products in same niche as yours and making affiliate commissions.
  • Promoting and selling your own products.
  • Launching crowdfunding campaigns on projects that are related to your niche.
  • Securing funding from investors.
